Hope is such a life force. As long as hope lives on in all of us with hearts, we are winning. We work hard and then we work harder to make choices that will allow for the most beautiful reality to emerge from whatever this is we are in the midst of right now. A future of kindness, empathy, morality, equity, love, creativity, freedom, health, and sustainability is worth every ounce of effort we pour into this world, and we continue to move toward this future with all the courage, hope, and determination our hearts can hold.
Hello sweet Jane it is so good to hear from you. I have labored to contact you by using the Email I lost, but found again. I was trying to test it only substack has defeated each attempt I made so far.
I would be thrilled to know this came by way of email. I quoted John Goodman at one point, “things keep getting balled up at the head office”, from Barton Fink. I like Cohen brothers flicks..
I am sitting at my favorite though unkempt place. I do have a living room where I am hoping to get on with meditation in an easy chair. I just saw an clear indication Substack is hosting our call right here.
Well I do want to try and catch up very soon, I ‘ve been snowed under in recent days and very little of it productive time. E
Everything I have touched has”gotten balled up at the head office.”
I’ll see if I can get untangled, it’s wonderful to hear you have patience with me until I can work out some of these untoward issues. I tried to put in a message to Dolly Parton an hour ago, but I was again stymied by persons who are hard at work routing my calls texts and other notions to places of interest to them, only for me, not so much. I believe Dolly would like to talk with me, and I her. I am unclear about what she may be thinking I could be of assistance with, but I would like to have a conversation with her, and hopefully clear things up a bit. Well I said it before, and I am saying again, I look forward to having the chance when we can catch up. I feel distinctly that I am falling behind in your classroom, and hope we can remedy communication soon. I just can’t entirely understand why all the interference continues to roll on. Please give Dolly the message I am trying to reach her as soon as I can. Things get balled up so often I have to direct myself to remember to call her.
I am at a loss to explain all of the meddling, but you know my phone is not a free phone? It’s balled up at the head office, i know you have already, but please keep in touch until
This is beautiful Jane. And oh-so-true! I'm so glad that you're using your voice to spread the word so each of us can fill our own corners of the Universe with kindness and love. Imagine a world where enough of us do just that……
You're so right on Jane ... we are in this living soup right now ... and we are feeling HOPE in that soup together, we're all here with you beloved Jane ... and we are in this living soup in presence ... soupy presence ... together!! I love you Jane! You are our beloved heroine -- all here together in this living soup!!
Thank you sharing what Greta said. I had the privilege of meeting her once. (I’m an American expat in Sweden.) She is so right about getting active. I have myself that doing something gives me more than sitting and hoping. So I’m active in Democrats abroad. And I’ve joined a civil defense organization for women founded in 1925 here in Sweden. Doing something has made me feel less despair!
Once again, you inspire me, Miss Fonda. I followed Greta Thunberg since her very early days of activism covered on Democracy Now.
I recently discussed the chrysalis with an acquaintance of mine and I’ve often used this example either when we lost somebody that we loved or we were looking at how a person changes overtime. The caterpillar crawls and forages, completely unaware of the beautiful, elegant creature, it will become later. The ground is all it knows, but it will fly.
I’ve sent a signed copy of my book to your office. I know you’re very very busy, but I do. Hope you have a chance to at least take a look at it. It might bring you some joy and comfort and also entertain you. It covers much ground, including nuclear disarmament activism and advocacy for the victims of nuclear testing, among other many interesting science fiction topics.
Oh I wanted this to be longer! Jane, I am SO happy you're on Substack, this and your other posts are incredibly uplifting and filled with Light. Thank you thank you. :`) <3
I’m usually busy and occupy my time well, so being alone doesn’t often bother me. But I’m really wanting to find a group of good friends that share my values and deserve my time (give as much as they get, are supportive, make me laugh). I know that last part about deserving my time sounds snobbish, but I sometimes find that I attract people who are jealous or not very genuine. If you have had that experience too you know what I’m talking about. I have faith they will come. Usually if I put out that request, they show up. I’m hoping that I will find some hope in this space and learn some things. I think recent events have given me pause to question the meaning of life and my place in it. I’m not the least bit suicidal so don’t worry! I’m very upbeat and always try to find the silver lining. Life is a wonderful gift and one I hope to make the most of, but I worry about the future of our country and my future as I age.
I changed careers (I was a teacher) when we moved to another state during Covid in 2020 and took care of my father-in-law for about 2.5 years and then both adult daughters through individual life crisis. Through all this, I started following my life’s dream and started painting again in 2021, and now I paint most days which makes me extremely happy. I just want to bring joy to other people through my art. I’m hoping I can do that, contribute to our family income/ future retirement and the rest will sort itself out. So the topic of HOPE is a big one for me today.
I painted this and dedicated it to my youngest daughter who, at the time, was really struggling with alcohol and seeking treatment. During her recovery, we were estranged which broke my heart, but she needed space to figure things out. The lemons are from my garden and were the last ones on the tree. This watercolor is titled, Lemonade, because life gives you lemons (difficult times) and it’s how we respond and what we do with them that can make something good happen- the lemonade. A bit trite, but I told her that in life she will have cycles where life will get hard or some difficult things will happen and it’s up to us to make a change or decision in how we will respond that can make something good come out of it.

YES! "Look for action and hope will come." Thank you for the motivating examples, Jane, especially that in-between "soup" of cells in the chrysalis ... May we all fill that lack of knowing with hope!
Woohoo Jane ~ Thank you!!! You said exactly what I’ve been feeling but haven’t been able to articulate! I do have Hope that love and light always wins.
That’s what I say in the start of my book, “Call It Assault! A childhood sexual grooming and assault survivors story and guide to personal and societal healing”... “We don’t want your pity. Pity is passive, and we need Action!”
Thank you Jane. I'm with you. How we turn up in this soup, the cells we manifest and what we fill them with will describe the butterfly we become. Much love xxx

Jane for President! Thank you for the hope we so desperately need right now.
